Fodor's Review

Since 1913, the Aglamesis family has been serving homemade chocolates and ice cream on the east side. The small ice-cream parlor and confectionery has checkered tile floors and marble-top tables; the marble soda fountains and Tiffany-style lamps are the original fixtures. The opera creams, rectangular cream-filled dark chocolate candy, remain a secret family recipe. A deli also serves a limited sandwich menu.

Unique Ice Cream Parlor

Definitely "old school" style ice cream and atmosphere - the question will be which do you prefer? A-brothers or Graeters?

The decor is a bit aged and could use some polishing, but the fact that it's all the original fixtures adds charm. People will tell that Cincinnati's best ice cream is Greater's (and it is also very good) - but Aglamesis is even

The best of the very best

Cincinnati may be known for it's chili - but its secret is that it has the best ice cream parlors I've ever seen! Aglamesis had the best of the best. Greater's is the most noted in the city and UDF (makers of Homemade brand) is excellent as well. But Aglamesis was the best ice cream I've ever had...and I've had it all over the world. Only knock on the place is that has such potential as a histpric parlor (same location since early 1900s), but that

potential is lost as it looks like it hasn't been well maintained in all those years. A little work to restore all the beautiful old fixtures would go a long way. But the ice cream leaves NOTHING to be desired.
