These cities on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River have some of Cincinnati's most popular entertainment districts. Covington and Newport are most accessible by I-75 and I-471, respectively. A number of bars, restaurants, and other destinations beckon visitors from the Ohio side. In Covington the hub is Mainstrasse (Main and 5th Sts. 859/491-0458. www.mainstrasse.org), a well-preserved German district of 20-odd bars and restaurants easily identified from I-75 by the restored Carroll Chimes Bell Tower at Sixth and Philadelphia, two blocks west of Main Street. Overlooking the river, Newport on the Levee (1 Levee Way. 859/291-0550. www.newportonthelevee.com) is more than an outdoor shopping mall. It mixes retail for all ages with street entertainers, a 20-screen movie theater, improv comedy, several destination restaurants, and the superb Newport Aquarium (1 Aquarium Way. 859/261-7444. www.newportaquarium.com).
