In Cincinnati, the big holiday for fireworks is not the Fourth of July but Labor Day weekend. Cincinnatians bid farewell to summer with a pyrotechnic blowout on the banks of the Ohio River. Hundreds of thousands of people come to see the waterskiing, sky diving, and air shows. The party ends with a spectacular 30-minute fireworks display over the river. Hanging flowers of light and waterfalls of sparks are choreographed to music broadcast live on a local radio station.
