Fodor's Review

Operated by the North Carolina Forestry Service, this 235-acre state forest has "talking trees," a fun way for kids to learn about the forests of Western North Carolina. Just press a button on a hickory or poplar and a recording tells you about the tree. The forest has about 5 mi of hiking trails.
