WNC Farmers Market

WNC Farmers Market Review

The highest-volume farmers' market in North Carolina may be architecturally unappealing, but it's a good place to buy local jams, jellies, honey, stone-ground grits and cornmeal, and, in season, local fruits and vegetables. In spring look for ramps, a wild cousin of the onion with a very strong odor. A wholesale section with large sheds below the main retail section (both are open to all) offers produce in bulk. An herb festival is held annually in the spring. On the grounds of the market are a garden supply store and a restaurant, Moose Café.
