North Carolina Mountains Sights

Sliding Rock

Sliding Rock Review

In summer you can skid 60 feet on a natural waterslide, fueled by 11,000 gallons of mountain water a minute, into a clear, cold pool in Pisgah National Forest. The pool is 6 to 8 ft deep, so you need to know how to swim. Wear old jeans and tennis shoes and bring a towel. On hot days the parking lot fills up early. No picnicking allowed at the Rock, but there are picnic grounds nearby. Sliding Rock is maintained by the National Forest Service.
