Just outside town, this lovely two-story Victorian, painted a sunflower yellow, sits on 5 acres on a low knoll, with colorful surrounding gardens and hammocks under shady trees. The rooms and suites are named for and decorated to evoke other destinations, from Savannah to the Caribbean island of Saba to E'staing, France. Most rooms have fireplaces, and some suites have whirlpool baths. Honeymoon and anniversary packages include fresh flowers, a picnic hamper, and a book
of poetry. Plott Creek Road, by the way, was named for the Plott hound, the state dog of North Carolina, a breed that was developed near The Yellow House to hunt coons and bears.
