Mast Farm Inn Review

You can turn back the clock and still enjoy modern amenities at this charming pastoral inn in Valle Crucis, built in the 1800s and now on the National Register of Historic Places. Rooms are in the farmhouse or in rustic cottages or log cabins. The restaurant, Simplicity, (reservations essential) uses locally and organically grown vegetables to enhance its innovative menu. Organic-gardening demonstrations are held in the inn's gardens. The inn offers cooking classes that focus on preparing local foods.

Uncomforable Conditions at Rasberry Cabin Mast Farm Inn

Our stay was August 15, 2009 in the Rasberry Cabin at Mast Farm Inn. Please be aware if you are considering staying in Rasberry Cabin avoid it in the summer months unless the owners fix the air condition system. We had to buy fans to place in the bedrooms so we could get some breeze to cool our bodies so we could get sleep. At the time of our stay there was just a small window unit air condition downstairs in the den window. It didn't function enough and wasn't made to cool the entire cabin. Mast Farm Inn on their website indicated air condition in the upstairs master bedroom. No air condition in upstairs or downstairs bedrooms. There are outlets in the floor for air/heat but the central air condition doesn't work. We paid $450.00 for a one night stay and feel we should have at least had the comfort of air condition in the middle of summer. If we had known the air condition was not working or Mast Farm Inn didn't air condition the Rasberry Cabin any longer we wouldn't stayed in such unbearable conditions. This cabin should only be used in the fall, winter, and early spring months unless the owner fixes the air condition problem. On our stay the breakfast consisted of one strip of bacon and a very sweet pastry. We were offered no beverage to drink our entire stay.It wasn't a healthy breakfast. We had to go to a local restaurant to purchase a filling breakfast. We are just thankful we only had to endure a one night stay. If you value cool comfort go elsewhere. If you like to sweat and enjoy not getting a good night's sleep because you are too hot then stay at Rasberry Cabin Mast Farm Inn.
