This stone cottage in the woods, off a winding country road between Boone and Blowing Rock surprises newcomers with unusual, sophisticated, expensive dishes, including leg of elk, pheasant, grilled buffalo flank steak, and other game. Beef, trout, and pork dishes are also available, as is a vegetarian plate with delicious grilled vegetables. A nice way to end the meal is with espresso and a selection of freshly made sorbets.
