Fodor's Review

Families cozy up in the lobby of this old mountain inn just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, which dates to 1910, to play Monopoly or just doze over a book. The staff is cheerful, and you have a choice of comfy lodge rooms or bigger, brighter rooms in newer buildings. There's also an eight-room, eight-bath cottage with a common living area with covered parking for motorcycles (from $69 per person). The Swiss theme is carried through to the Chalet restaurant; the Fowl Play Pub serves lighter fare. There are shops on the grounds, along with ice cream and sweets shops.
