Fodor's Review

Built in 1852 in the Italianate style, this home museum, with 600 Victorian items in its collection, is a reminder of opulent antebellum living. Guided tours are available. The lovely gardens are planted in mid-19th-century style. The Historical Society of the Lower Cape Fear is based here; the society's docents lead 1½-hour, guided walking tours of the downtown historic district at 10 am each Saturday.
