This much anticipated and heavily attended festival occurs on the first weekend in October. It has celebrated the Central Coast's fishing and seafood heritage since 1986. A chef's tent features special seafood preparations, and vendors sell North Carolina seafood prepared in all sorts of ways, from crab cakes to shrimp burgers. The festival includes live entertainment, carnival rides, and a blessing of the fishing fleet. If you've never flung a flounder, here's your chance—a
fish toss contest is part of the fun.
