This charming 19th-century-style inn sits waterfront, a few steps from shops, restaurants, and the Roanoke Island Festival Park. The individually decorated rooms have classic, clean lines and muted colors; some have comfy sitting areas. Complimentary wine and cheese are served in the evening. The popular restaurant, 1587 ($$$$), is known for its chop-house-style cuts and inventive entrées, such as pan-roasted, chipotle-spiced duck breast and grilled tuna over spicy Thai noodles.
