North Carolina Maritime Museum

Fodor's Review:

North Carolina Maritime Museum documents the state's seafaring history. An exhibit about the infamous pirate Blackbeard includes artifacts recovered from the discovery of his flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, near Beaufort Inlet. Other exhibits focus on local fossils and duck decoys. The associated Watercraft Center, across the street, has lectures on boat-building and stargazing, birding treks, and fossil hunting tours.
