North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke Island
North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke Island Review
The North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke Island, overlooking Croatan Sound, occupies 68,000 square feet of space. There are touch tanks, but The Graveyard of the Atlantic is the centerpiece exhibit. It's a 285,000-gallon ocean tank containing the re-created remains of the USS Monitor, sunk off Hatteras Island. The aquarium hosts a slew of activities and field trips, from feeding fish to learning about medicinal aquatic plants to kids' workshops.
