Hearts were broken when this restaurant, owned by powerful North Carolina Senator Marc Basnight and family, burned in 2007, but the rebuilt contemporary setting with simple pine tables, large windows with waterfront views, and a huge glass-walled wine rack in the main dining room is sleeker and more spacious than the original. North Carolina produce and seafood star here. Soft-shell crabs in season come from an on-site shedding facility, and a stunning, extensive herb garden provides fresh seasoning. Try local favorites such as clear clam chowder, pan-blackened bluefish, or whole fried flounder. Beef, chicken, pork, and pastas are also on the menu. Dinner service starts at 4:30 pm, with a late-night bar menu available in the Osprey Lounge, and brunch is served 11–3 on Sunday. The restaurant is on the Nags Head–Manteo Causeway.
