Nightlife & The Arts in Raleigh-Durham with Chapel Hill

Entertainment Overview

As might be expected from an area with many colleges, the Triangle has a thriving artistic community, one fueled by the thousands of creative souls who come to the area every semester. Local support for the arts is strong in these parts, and festivals of every kind -- from mountain music festivals to craft fairs -- are usually well attended.

Music is a popular pastime, and the area's diverse population supports jazz, rock, blues, folk, and most other genres that come along.

Of course, your entertainment choices will be greater when regular semesters are in session, but you can find events year-round if you know where to look. The area's two free weekly newspapers, The Spectator and The Independent, available at most cafés and record shops, are your best bet for a comprehensive list of local happenings and performances. You can also tune in to both Duke University's WXDU (88.7 FM) and UNC-Chapel Hill's WUNC (91.5 FM) or WXYC (89.3 FM) for the latest calendar information.
