Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club

Fodor's Review:

One of the bonuses of staying at this resort is the chance to meet Peggy Kirk Bell, a champion golfer who built the place with her late husband. The club, known for its excellent golf course, has hosted the U.S. Women's Open. The rooms are done in a rustic chalet style; many have exposed beams, pine paneling, and fireplaces. Private lodges with four bedrooms are great for families. Pros: rustic inn is a bit more relaxed than some of its neighbors. Cons: if you're looking for the ultimate luxury experience, this one probably isn't for you.
