Fodor's Review:

Specialty shops, art galleries, restaurants, and a small farmers' market are found in this cluster of cobblestone streets. A free trolley shuttles between City Market and other downtown restaurant and nightlife locations from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM Thursday through Saturday.

  • Open: Most stores Mon.-Sat. 10-5:30; most restaurants Mon.-Sat. 7AM-1AM, Sun. 11:30-10

This quaint downtown center is the home of two great local restaurants (Vic's Italian and Big Ed's), and a Segway shop which offers guided Segway Tours (Triangle Segway). City Market is also the home of many small art galleries. Its tree-lined cobblestone streets are charming. City Market is just a couple of blocks off Fayetteville St. It's also a historic landmark.
