This 1871 Victorian B&B, one of the first to be built in what is now the Oakwood Historic District, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Each of the individually decorated guest rooms has a working fireplace. Rosewood antiques fill one room; another has a queen-size sleigh bed as its centerpiece. Wine and sweets are always on hand, so guests can enjoy refreshments on the front porch overlooking a yard filled with irises and star magnolias. Walkers may find themselves drawn to the nearby Krispy Kreme; as the sweet scent of doughnuts cooking fills the morning air. Pros: fans of Victorian architecture can get their fill of sights on a morning walk through the neighborhood. Cons: Victorian decor dominates the interior, so this would be a poor fit for fans of sleek, modern surroundings.
