University of North Carolina

Fodor's Review:

Franklin Street runs along the northern edge of the University of North Carolina campus, which is filled with oak-shaded courtyards and stately old buildings. The Ackland Art Museum (Columbia and Franklin Sts., University, 27599. 919/966-5736. www.ackland.org) showcases one of the Southeast's strongest collections of Asian art, plus an outstanding selection of drawings, prints, and photographs as well as old-master paintings and sculptures. The Louis Round Wilson Library (Polk Pl., between E. Cameron Ave. and South Rd., University, 27514. 919/962-0114. www.lib.unc.edu/wilson) houses the largest single collection of state literature in the nation.
