Fodor's Expert Review Oakwood Inn

411 N. Bloodworth St., Raleigh, North Carolina, 27604, USA

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

This 1871 Italianate B&B, one of the first to be built in what is now the Oakwood Historic District, and about six blocks from downtown, is on the National Register of Historic Places; each of its individually decorated rooms has a working fireplace, high ceilings, and walls with rich, solid colors. Nonalcoholic drinks and homemade cookies are always on hand, so guests can enjoy refreshments on the front porch overlooking a yard filled with irises, star magnolias, and a vegetable garden that provides produce for the inn's hot breakfasts.

  • good value

  • B in the Oakwood Historic District
