A group of 17th- and 18th-century buildings and 19th-century barns makes up this museum, which also serves as headquarters of the Greene County Historical Society. The oldest building here—indeed, in all of Greene County—is a stone Dutch-colonial house that was built in 1663. Additions to the one-room structure included a 1685 stone wing and a 1738 brick house. The rooms contain a hodgepodge of Federal, Victorian, and Empire furnishings and paintings by period notables. The wide expanse of lawn includes several barns, among them a 13-sided Dutch structure from the 1830s. The museum is 33 mi north of Saugerties.
