Hudson Valley Sights

Locust Lawn

Locust Lawn Review

Josiah Hasbrouck—a lieutenant in the American Revolution and U.S. congressman during the presidential terms of Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe—built the 1814 Federal-style mansion, which has an impressive three-story central hall. Exhibits include 18th- and 19th-century furniture and an oxcart used to carry supplies to the Continental army at Valley Forge. Nearby is Terwilliger House (1738), a Huguenot-era stone building with period furnishings. Tours are offered on the hour.
