The Hudson Valley: Places to Explore

Monroe

Although it's largely residential, Monroe blends industrial grit and old-fashioned living: it's the birthplace of Velveeta as well as home to Museum Village, a living-history museum. The town offers dining just off Exit 130 of Route 17 (morphing into Interstate 86, the Quickway), which makes it a relatively convenient place to eat near Harriman State Park and Sterling Forest.
