The Finger Lakes Shopping

Updated 12/31/1969

Fodor's Review

The village of Pittsford, about 6 mi southeast of downtown, is the city's most upscale neighborhood and has some of its best shopping. Farther east, in the village proper, the two blocks south of the intersection of Main Street and Monroe Avenue are lined with restaurants and shops.

Schoen Place encompasses a row of jewelry and artisan shops across from the Erie Canal.

In Pittsford Plaza, you find discount department stores, boutiques, chain stores,

a nice wine store (Century Wines), restaurants, and a Wegmans grocery store. 3349 Monroe Ave., off the Monroe Avenue exit on Iā€“590, Pittsford, NY, 14618. 585/424ā€“6220.

Northfield Common, adjacent to Shoen Place, houses a mix of crafters, restaurants, and art galleries. 50 State St./Rte. 31 at Schoen Pl., just over covered bridge heading out of town on State St., on left, Pittsford, NY, 14534. No phone.

A visit to Bill Wahl's Ice Cream and Yogurt is perfect for dessert anytime. 45 Schoen Pl., Rochester, NY, 14534. 585/248ā€“2080.
