Many of the hamlets surrounding Belleayre have been experiencing a resurgence, spurred by an influx of city folk escaping the rat race. Pine Hill—a stone's throw from the ski resort—is your best choice if you want to be close to the slopes. In Margaretville, 10 miles west of Belleayre, interesting boutiques and upscale restaurants draw weekend visitors. Before you reach Margaretville you'll pass through Arkville (blink, and you’ll miss it), home to the Delaware & Ulster Railroad.
