Tupper Lake
Once a logging and transportation center, Tupper Lake is today a quiet spot with about 3,800 residents. The village sits on Raquette Pond (the lake named Tupper is just west of it), with smaller bodies of water dotting the area. If you follow Main Street west to where it intersects with the old railroad tracks, you'll come to the part of town known as the Junction. Here you can see well-preserved buildings from Tupper Lake's early days, including the late-19th-century Grand Union Hotel on Depot Street. The Goff-Nelson Memorial Library on Lake Street houses a large collection of photographs and accounts of Tupper Lake's beginnings.
