With a convenient downtown location near a waterfront park and the World Financial Center, this flashy Embassy Suites has a lot to offer to families and business travelers. The hotel is part of a complex with a six-screen movie theater and a 20,000-square-foot health club. As the name suggests, every one of the modern rooms here is at least a one-bedroom suite, with a living area that includes a pull-out double bed sofa, dining table, and microwave oven. The hotel has an attractive lobby, with a 14-story center atrium and a colorful Sol LeWitt mural running down its entire length. You'll have a relatively long walk to the subway, but there is a complimentary evening cocktail reception and the trademark Embassy Suites breakfast bonanza to make up for it. Pros: good for families; movie theater downstairs. Cons: a schlep to the subway; far from Midtown; nearby construction.
