Rosa Mexicano

Rosa Mexicano Review

The idea that you can't find good south-of-the-border cuisine in the Big Apple is quickly fading, thanks in part to this Union Square restaurant (there are two other locations, at Lincoln Center and Midtown East). Although the spacious, colorfully lighted interior might tip you off that if authenticity is what you seek, you should look elsewhere, but if you're looking for high-quality, well-executed Mex-flavored fare, step right up, hombre. Start with an order of guac (made tableside) and dig in, moving on, perhaps, to the pork belly and scallop tacos, soul-comforting chicken tortilla pie, or the crispy pork shank. All of which taste better with a margarita. Happy hour (Sun.—Thurs. only) at the bar is a great deal but it gets crowded.
