At this old reliable on Restaurant Row, celebrated in the musical version of All About Eve, everybody's en route to or from a show. The posters that adorn the "flop wall" are from Broadway musicals that bombed.

Yes, the food is perfunctory and pricey. But it's still a real Theater District hangout, and you may well spot a Broadway actor or television personality in the dining room or at the bar (more likely after the show than before). Some now gravitate to the more exclusive Bar Central upstairs, where the hostess will make sure you don't penetrate too far beyond the unmarked door without a good reason.
