Fodor's Review:
New York's preeminent film event is the annual New York Film Festival, sponsored by the Film Society of Lincoln Center every September and October. Screenings -- which feature many U.S. premieres -- are announced more than a month in advance and sell out rapidly. Venues are Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall (with opening- and closing-night extravaganzas in Avery Fisher Hall) and Walter Reade Theater.
