Gild Hall

Fodor's Review:

Captains of Industry, meet your first financial district boutique hotel. Operated by the owners of the successful, chic 60 Thompson Hotel in SoHo, Gild Hall aggressively courts clientele with a Y chromosome: beds have padded leather headboards and tartan throw blankets. The rooms are small but come replete with custom-made wood desks and tables. Todd English's restaurant, the Libertine, doubles down on the vibe the hotel also strives to achieve, sort of English gentlemen's club meets high-roller. The Gold Street location, though slightly hard to find, is a short walk from downtown's central banks and business, as well as two blocks from South Street Seaport and City Hall. Pros: central financial district location; eye-popping lobby; excellent restaurant. Cons: small rooms for the price; untraditional location.
