Situate yourself at a table in Bagatelle's elegant and spacious white dining room, sip on a cocktail like La Poire Royale (pear vodka, pear brandy, pear purée, Cointreau, and champagne), and watch the Meatpacking District's beautiful people strut by and coo at the bar. Executive chef Nicolas Cantrel's appealing menu of Provençal bistro classics includes some excellent appetizers: buttery elbow pasta with veal juice, ham, and Swiss cheese, and a tartine with goat cheese and tomato confit are highbrow, addictive comfort food. There are still a few kinks to work out though. Filet mignon was nicely cooked and seasoned but accompanied by unmemorable frites, and the flavorful bouillabaisse—a Provençal fish stew with rouille and croutons—suffered from rather bland seafood. Leave room for dessert, especially "le Paris Brest"—choux pastry, praline cream, and almonds. The wine list includes many French varietals; only a few are offered by the glass.

I took some business clients to diner here last night. It was recommended by a colleague and I have to say what a great choice. We got there early, had a few drinks by the bar. The waiter recommended the fish special which I was glad we ordered it- it was exquisite. Finished off with some yummy desserts and the best part was I impressed my clients and closed the deal!!

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Bagatelle for our anniversary. The restaurant itself is one of the most attractive I have ever seen, a great romantic setting for our special evening. The champagne cocktails were delicious and refined, and both our bartender and waiter were beyond charming. We enjoyed a delectable meal, and a decadent dessert accompanied by some great music and a gorgeous, fun crowd that filled the restaurant right as we were finishing our meal. We were having such a great time that we ended up unexpectedly spending the rest of the evening right there, dancing and drinking the night away!
