Aquavit and Aquavit Café
Aquavit and Aquavit Café Review
Celebrity chef and co-owner Marcus Samuelsson may no longer be in the kitchen here, but you'd never know it from the impeccable cuisine and service at this fine-dining restaurant and upscale café, now in the hands of able executive chef Marcus Jenmark. The elegant atmosphere features warm woods and modern decor from a Scandinavian design team. In the café, try a two-course dinner of daily "Swedish home cooking" specials, or order à la carte to try the herring sampler, with boldly flavored selections like curry and apple, and vodka-lime. The main dining room is prix-fixe only, with a three-course dinner for $84 or a chef's tasting at $110.

downer, from Western NY
We showed up for the Smörgåsbord on a whim, and though the servers were all helpful, the food wasn't as fun as we had hoped...out of the herring selections, only one impressed (and barely). Salmon here did not challenge its stereotype of being boring any more than at supposedly-less-illustrious restaurants. Desserts were the least interesting. Wonder what this place was like w/ Samuelsson in the kitchen?
