Fodor's Review:
One of Staten Island's biggest attractions for visitors is the phenomenal view of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty afforded by the free 20- to 30-minute Staten Island Ferry ride across New York Harbor -- the only direct route to Manhattan from the island. On weekdays and weekend afternoons you can catch the ferry at least every half hour. On weekend mornings until 11:30 AM, ferries leave the southern tip of Manhattan at Whitehall Terminal every hour on the half hour; from 11:30 AM until 7:30 PM, they run every half hour.
- Metro: Whitehall Terminal: 4 or 5 train to Bowling Green, or R or W train to Whitehall St., 1 to South Ferry
