An outpost of the Portland original, this insanely popular Thai restaurant isn't easy to get to but it's worth the trek—it's in the Columbia Waterfront District on the edge of Carrol Gardens. Chef Andy Ricker has mastered Thai cuisine. Or at least made it taste so good you'll wait for hours to get into this no-reservations restaurant. The menu floats around the southeast Asian country but seems to stick around the north longer, with an emphasis on Chiang Mai and Isaan. Order duck laap (meat salad) and a spicy papaya salad and see if your taste buds can take more spice. If so, you can't go wrong with the tender garlic-rubbed pork neck. Put your name in with the host and then wait it out next door at Ricker's other establishment, Whiskey Soda Lounge.
