Citizen M
218 W. 50th St., New York, New York 10019, USAWhy We Like It
Rooms deliver the essentials but a lack of space encourages visitors to mingle in the generous common areas. We love the rooftop bar with its big couches and the living room-inspired lobby stocked with books and magazines. When choosing a hotel in Midtown, views matter, and both the rooftop bar and the gym offer gorgeous ones.
Fodor's Expert Review
A stylish property with a refreshing attitude in Midtown Manhattan, this hotel is all about giving you everything you need and nothing you don’t. To make guests feel at home, the lobby is designed to feel like a living room and is full of books and magazines. There's also an all-season rooftop bar that has 360-degree views.
Tip Unlike other hotels that stash a fitness center in the basement, the gym here is on the 20th floor and also has great views.

Room
Streamlined rooms have gigantic windows, free movies, and free Wi-Fi (and skip extras you don’t need like trouser presses). Beds take up most of the room in the tight quarters, but a small work desk and wall-mounted flat-screen TV are squeezed in.
You Should Know Rooms more closely resemble compact pods than full hotel rooms—even by New York standards, space is tight.
Bathroom
Frosted glass separates the rain shower and toilet from the rest of the room.
Lobby
The bright lobby is designed to feel like a living room, with lots of comfy couches, softly glowing lamps and a variety of books and magazines.
Dining
CanteenM is a quick and casual spot for coffee, snacks, sandwiches, and drinks. Conveniently, it’s open 24 hours a day.
Drinking
Cloudbar is the hotel’s rooftop bar with big couches, a fun cocktail list, and--most importantly--unbelievable views.
