1 Hotel Central Park
1414 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10019, USAWhy We Like It
Each detail of this property was a thoughtful choice, from the triple filtered water on tap to the beautiful use of recycled materials. Beyond the sustainable ethos, we love the rooms with scenic window seats, the wide presence of plants and living walls, and the serene atmosphere in the heart of midtown Manhattan.
Fodor's Expert Review
A commitment to next-level eco-friendly policies is evident in the smallest details at this stylish hotel, from in-room chalkboards (instead of notepads!) to triple-filtered water (straight from the taps). With living vertical walls at every door entry and clever use of reclaimed materials, this hotel leaves a lasting impression about how our choices impact the environment.

Room
Surprisingly quiet rooms have cozy window seats and extremely comfortable beds. Extra conveniences include clear light controls and a big flat-screen TV with streaming capabilities. Reclaimed materials include wood from classic New York City water towers.
Tip If a splurge is in the budget, the Greenhouse Suite is a unique space with a living green wall of ferns and ivy (plus a massive Japanese-style soaking tub).
Bathroom
Marble bathrooms with reclaimed wood ceilings have huge walk-in showers with rainforest showerheads, all-natural 1 Hotels bath products, and cotton robes.
You Should Know Showers are essentially glass cubes and are open to the bedroom area. There is a privacy curtain--but some guests may want more privacy.
Lobby
Lush plants and reclaimed materials decorate the small lobby. There are a couple clusters of couches and chairs plus a small front desk and a farmstand selling fresh fruit.
Dining
Chef Jonathan Waxman is behind Jams, a ground floor restaurant with an open kitchen and exposed brick walls. The seasonally driven restaurant has lots of vegetarian options like charcoal roasted brussels sprouts and baby beets with romesco sauce--but they've also got plenty of hearty entrees like roasted chicken and steaks. The lobby farmstand sells fresh fruit.

Located on West 58th Street and 6th Avenue, this hotel is one block from the southern flank of Central Park. Midtown landmarks including the Theater District are within walking distance. Subway service is plentiful, with the F train at 57th Street and 6th Avenue, plus the N, R, and W trains at 5th Avenue and 59th Street. Taxis and Uber are widely available in the neighborhood, but traffic congestion can be a problem, of course.
Restaurants
Roast chickens spin on the rotisserie in the open kitchen at Rotisserie Georgette (7-minute walk), a cozy bistro with quality cocktails. Pick up supplies for a picnic in Central Park at the Plaza Food Hall (4-minute walk) including sandwiches, pizza, sushi, and baked goods. Quality Meats (1-minute walk) is a traditional steakhouse in a modern setting--the dry aged porterhouse is very, very good.
