For those who can’t afford to charter a private plane to the Hamptons, there are various cost-effective ground transportation options for traveling east, most notably the Hampton Jitney, which picks up passengers at several stops in Manhattan and drops off at more than 20 towns on the South and North Forks. The round-trip fare is $53. For roomier, plusher seats, and extra pampering, you can take a ride on the Ambassador Service bus for $63 round-trip. The Jitney also offers single and multi-day winery, shopping, and cultural tours. The Hampton Luxury Liner links Manhattan with North and South Fork towns and offers connections to MacArthur Airport. Fares are $40 one-way or $29 per trip when you purchase the value pack. Reservations are required for all trips. The company offers single-day winery tours in addition to regular service.

Long Island Bus, part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, travels throughout Nassau County and western Suffolk County, stopping at nearly 50 Long Island Rail Road stations.
