Except for a few places here and there, haute cuisine is essentially nonexistent. Meals at traditional lodges tend to be tied to accommodations, although many establishments accept nonguests for dinner. Indeed, some of the best food in the Adirondacks is being served in resort and inn restaurants. The Olympic region in particular has a number of fine places to eat, primarily in Lake Placid.
