The country inn, part of Letchworth State Park, overlooks the Genesee River. Park founder William Pryor Letchworth had used the mansion as a retreat. It was turned into an inn in 1914. The interiors are decked out in Victorian style. Standard rooms are on the small side, with one double or two twin beds, but the suites are very spacious. The Cherry Suite has a whirlpool tub, a private porch with great views of the gorge, and striking chevron-patterned hardwood floors. Also available are more modern lodge rooms and two houses. The restaurant ($$-$$$; closed Nov.-late Mar.) serves American and Continental fare, such as baked salmon fillet in port sauce, roast duckling with cherry-brandy glaze, and slow-roasted prime rib with fresh horseradish.
