Even the name of the property—which means a rhythmic, recurrent expansion—evokes the sound of the waves. Inside, Shaker pieces are scattered throughout. The largest guest room, outfitted with Early American furnishings, is impeccable. The property encompasses miles of private hiking trails, and you can arrange for horseback riding with a nearby outfitter.

The Diastole Bed and Breakfast is beautiful and relaxing. The innkeepers were extremely welcoming and accomodating. My husband and I were looking to escape the chaos of NYC and found the peace and quiet we were looking for at Diastole!
