Planning Your Time
Whether you've got an afternoon or a week in the area, begin by strolling around Taos Plaza and along Bent Street, taking in the galleries, Native American crafts shops, and eclectic clothing stores. Take Ledoux Street south from west Plaza and go two blocks to the Harwood Museum, then walk back to the Plaza and cross over to Kit Carson Road, where you can find more shops and galleries as well as the Kit Carson Home and Museum. Continue north on Paseo del Pueblo to the Taos Art Museum at the Fechin House and you'll have enjoyed much of the best Taos has to offer. If you have time to venture a bit farther afield, head north on Paseo del Pueblo out to the Taos Pueblo, then west to the magnificent Millicent Rogers Museum. If you're headed south, stop at La Hacienda de los Martínez for a look at early life in Taos and then on to Ranchos de Taos to see the stunning San Francisco de Asís Church and channel your inner artist.
