Long a beacon for visual artists, Taos has also become a magnet for touring musicians, especially in summer, when performers and audiences are drawn to the heady high-desert atmosphere. Festivals celebrate the visual arts, music, poetry, and film.
This first-rate nightly series of classical (and occasional jazz) concerts is presented at venues around Angel Fire and Taos for about three weeks from mid-August to early September. Tickets cost about $25–$30 per concert, and the festival—begun in 1983—continues to grow in popularity and esteem each year.
