Fodor's Review

Try for a seat on the cheery, covered outdoor patio next to giant sunflowers, as the interior of this often-packed spot can feel a bit cramped, although service is friendly and helpful wherever you sit. Enjoy breakfast burritos, eggs Benedict with green chile, homemade granola, fresh-baked goods, dozens of deli sandwiches, tortilla soup, and homemade stews. You might finish your meal with a chocolate-nut brownie. Beer, wine, and gourmet coffees are also served.

Owner Charlene Dulong is Short on Customer Service and Long on Customer Abuse

We had a miserable lunch--poor service, and a screaming toddler adjacent to out table. We asked to speak to the manager at the end of the meal to express our discomfort. He came to our table and we told him how uncomfortable and disappointing our lunch was because of having to deal with poor service and a screaming child. He said he wanted to make it right for us and said that he would give us a gift certificate. We said we would not be visiting

again for many months. He then said for us to leave what we thought the meal was worth, if anything. We decided to tip the waitress and to pay for our drinks and dessert. While we were paying, the owner, Charlene Delong, arrived at our table. She said "it was not their policy to teach parents how to deal with their children and that she could not believe that we were not going to pay for our lunch". We tried to explain to her that the manager had suggested this--but there was no listening. She ranted and raved at us and ultimately told us that we were the rudest people she had ever encountered and she screamed "get out of my restaurant you f@#@*&! B#@*~s. Shaking, we gathered our belongings and we were accosted once again as we tried to exit the restaurant. She started screaming at us to leave and said that she was calling the police. I cannot tell you how this left us shaking and incredulous at how we had been treated. We never asked the manager to reduce our bill and were very kind in giving feedback to him. So, if you are going to the Bent Street Deli--do not give any feedback or rock the boat or you will find yourself accosted by the ownership and made to leave in a most embarrassing way.

Excellent Breakfasts

One of the best breakfasts my wife and I have year after year. Great selection.
