Taos Restaurants

For a relatively small, remote town, Taos has a sophisticated and eclectic dining scene. It's a fine destination for authentic New Mexican fare, but you'll also find several upscale spots serving creative regional fare utilizing mostly local ingredients, a smattering of excellent Asian and Middle Eastern spots, and several very good cafés and coffeehouses perfect for a light but bountiful breakfast or lunch.

  • 1. Abe's Cantina y Cocina

    $

This family-owned, family-run establishment is a cultural landmark of Arroyo Seco. Named after proprietor Abe Garcia, the place has been in operation since the 1940s and serves as a community focal point. Abe's food is consistently delicious and very reasonably priced. Order a burrito, bowl of chile, or homemade tamales for take-out, or better yet, sit down and enjoy some friendly neighborhood conversation over a cold beer.
