A Good Walk: Taos Plaza in Plaza and Vicinity

A Good Walk: Taos Plaza

Begin at the gazebo in the middle of Taos Plaza. After exploring the plaza, head south from its western edge down the small, unmarked alley (its name is West Plaza Drive), crossing Camino de la Placita, to where West Plaza Drive becomes Ledoux Street. Continue south to the E. L. Blumenschein Home and Museum and, a few doors farther south, the Harwood Museum. (Parking for the Harwood Foundation is at Ledoux and Ranchitos Road.)

Walk back to the plaza, and stroll east across Paseo del Pueblo Norte (NM 68) to visit the Kit Carson Home and Museum. Then head back to Paseo del Pueblo Norte, turn right (north) and go past the Taos Inn, to reach the Taos Art Museum and Fechin House.

The entire walk can be done in five hours, but allow about eight hours if you stop for lunch along the way and browse in the shops and galleries. You can tour each of the museums in 45 minutes to an hour.
