Ruidoso
A sophisticated year-round resort town on the eastern slopes of the pine-covered Sacramento Mountains, Ruidoso retains a certain rustic charm. Shops, antiques stores, bars, and restaurants line its main street, and in winter, skiers flock to nearby Ski Apache. In summer, Ruidoso is a paradise for outdoors lovers seeking respite from the blazing heat of lower elevations.
Worth noting is that the general quality of lodging and dining options in town is very good. Service is delightfully friendly and laid-back, and you can eat everything from Greek food to Mexican food to good ol' American barbecue and walk away with una panza llena y un corazon contento (a full stomach and a happy heart).
