Fodor's Review

This legendary gathering of cowboy poets, musicians, chuckwagon cooks, artists, craftspeople, and—of course—cowboys takes place the second weekend of October at Ruidoso Downs racetrack. The three-day event includes the Chuckwagon Competition, in which participants cook Old West–style food in full regalia. Horsemanship skills, blacksmithing, and all sorts of activities for kids are part of this fun weekend. Dances on Friday and Saturday night are a big hit with people

of all ages.
